About Ledger Swine Farms
Ledger Swine Farms is owned and managed by Gary and Ann Ledger, we have produced and marketed Terminal Natural Service sires since 1986. Over that time period we have delivered thousands of boars into a wide variety of breeding and production environments. We understand and recognize that the demands of natural service sires are multi-faceted. First and foremost these sires must be aggressive and rugged enough to perform successfully in any kind of breeding environment. Secondly they must sire offspring that are robust, efficient and preferred by the packer. Finally producers expect to receive high-health, problem free, uniform groups of boars on a timely basis, which meet their expectations. We strive everyday to meet those product demands.

Our Current Operation and Production
Ledger Swine Farms is located 2 miles South of Williamsburg, Iowa in East Central Iowa. The terrain is hilly and rolling. This is an area with very low pig density in an area of strong rural residential growth. We feel that helps secure our isolation and bio-security. We have very modern total confinement facilities on two-sites. We currently inventory 325 sows that batch farrows 65 litters. Pigs are reared in total slatted wean-finish barns.

We also offer pre-hardened boars that have been conditioned in a total concrete, deep bedded, non-heated environment. These boars make a very smooth transition to all types of isolation facilities.

All facilities are operated with the highest possible level of bio-security by an excellent management team that is dedicated to producing high quality terminal sires.

All genetics are provided by PIC from their top sire nucleus farms. Groups of 200 boars are taken off-test every 5 weeks. We can fill orders of any size.

Our Health and Bio-security
We maintain a stringent bio-security and health monitoring program. PIC and Veterinary Medical Center of Williamsburg have developed an ongoing monthly serology monitoring program. Currently we test for PRRS, Mycoplasma monthly and routinely monitor for SIV and APP. Dr. Mark Brinkman of VMC conducts monthly blood testing and all herd health audits. Dr. Brinkman conducts all Vet to Vet inquires. Continual bio-security protocols are incorporated to insure health security. This farm location has never delivered breeding stock that has had any economically damaging health problem since it was established in 1992.
